Michael Phelps got off to a great start by winning his first gold medal of the 2008 Games by winning the 400 Individual Medley. He took the medal with a World Record time of 4:03.84.
Laslo Cseh of Hungary took Silver while Ryan Lochte of the US took Bronze.
Phelps is trying to tie or beat Mark Spitz's long standing record of seven gold medals in a single games.
